IMPORTANT UPDATE ON POST-SECONDARY PSCC EVENTS

As I am sure you are aware, as a result of the devastating fires that are sweeping through the northern parts of Alberta, the Edmonton Expo Centre has been designated as an Evacuation Centre. Due to the Provincial State of Emergency that has been declared because of the various wildfires, the Provincial Skills Canada Competition will no longer be running at the Edmonton EXPO Centre May 11-12, 2016.

With this year being a qualifying year for WorldSkills Abu Dhabi, Skills Canada Alberta is determined to host a Post-Secondary level qualifying event next week in Edmonton. This event will determine the Team Alberta competitors who will move on to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition in Moncton, New Brunswick from June 5-8, 2016.

These one-day qualifying events will be take place on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. Contest Description modifications, times and locations are being confirmed as fast as possible.  Below is a list of the events that we are intending to host; confirmed events are marked as such. Additionally, events that do not advance to the SCNC have been cancelled.

We will be updating the table of events below as we receive more confirmations, so please continue to check back. We do hope to have more information regarding all remaining events along with times and location by this afternoon (Friday May 6).

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience experienced as a result of this unforeseen tragedy. We know that this is an extremely difficult time for the communities that have been impacted by the wildfires, and we continue to send our thoughts and wishes for everyone’s safety.
