Cancellation: Skills Canada Alberta COVID-19 Update

Alberta Health Services has issued a directive that all large gatherings be suspended in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the province. In light of this recommendation, it is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the cancellation of all planned Skills Canada Alberta programming for the Spring of 2020. This includes all upcoming Regional Skills Canada Competitions, and the Provincial Skills Canada Competition (encompassing School Field Trips, the Girls Exploring Trades and Technologies Conference and Skill City).

We understand the disappointment that this will bring to the many students across the province who have been working hard in preparation for their competition. However, this decision was made in the interest of the health and safety of all Skills Canada Alberta competitors, teachers, volunteers, and stakeholders. We would like to recognize the hard work and commitment that has already gone into these programs and thank our network for their awe-inspiring support.

Like everyone else in Alberta, we are committed to doing everything in our power to mitigate the risk of the spread of this virus, and we encourage everyone to follow all the recommendations laid out by Alberta Health Services.
