As a result of the devastating fires that are sweeping through the northern parts of Alberta, the Edmonton Expo Centre has been designated as an Evacuation Centre. Due to the Provincial State of Emergency that has been declared because of the various wildfires, we were not able to host many of the event competitions. This resulted in a lottery process for all secondary events and selected post-secondary events. In addition, all remaining post-secondary events were held at alternative locations. For more information regarding the selection process, click here.
The lottery was held at the Skills Canda Alberta office on May 12, 2016. The lottery was administered and audited by Clayton McCrea,Accountant, BDO International and Terry Cooke, Director, Skills Canada Alberta & WorldSkills International Treasurer. Each contest lottery was time stamped, video taped and photographed for full transparency. If anyone wants to request a video file of a specific contest lottery, please contact Katherine Kupchenko KatherineK@SkillsAlberta.com. Thank you once again to Clayton and Terry for your support through this process.
Skills Canada Alberta is still dedicated to sending a complete Team to represent Alberta at the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) taking place in Moncton, NB at the beginning of June. All competitors that are drawn to represent Skills Canada Alberta at the SCNC will be notified by email to confirm your acceptance.
