Provincial Volunteers

The Provincial Competition is only possible with the work and ideas of hundreds of volunteers. We are grateful for the many hours and efforts made by our many volunteers. If you're interested in volunteering at our flagship event, see our listings below!

Volunteer Roles

Skill Specific Volunteer - Judge,Try-A-Trade, or Volunteer

Each competition area requires support from volunteers to help judge, host the Try-A-Trade, and other valuable tasks. Skill specific volunteers will need to have expertise/familiarity with the trade or technology for the competition area that they would like to be involved in. Judges will be evaluating the technical knowledge of the competitors, or inspiring people to learn more about their chosen field as a Try-A-Trade volunteer.

Provincial Technical Committee

Each competition requires a Provincial Technical Committee (PTC) to plan everything from projects and judging to set up and tear down to sourcing equipment. Each PTC is made up of secondary, post-secondary, and industry experts for more than 45 competitions areas.

PTC members are experienced and have received training in the trade or technology related to their competition area. Experience on a PTC is essential to qualifying for our national and international volunteer opportunities.

PTC General Duties: (approximate time commitment - 62 hours yearly)

  • Create contest description documents including the projects, schedule, and judging criteria

  • Determine competition requirements including competitor registration limits, equipment and material needs
