March 2-18, 2021, SCA will host Regional Skills Canada Competitions (RSCC) in nine event areas for students across Alberta. Each contest area will be hosted virtually, in-school on their own day as a combined ALL region competition. The South West Region spans from the east boundary of Taber, the west boundary of the AB/BC border, the north boundary of Vulcan and the south boundary of the AB/US border.
During the one-day RSCC, each student specializes in one event area and must complete a project that has been designed by experts in that field.
Provincial spot allocation will remain the same as previous years, with the top performers from each region advancing to the 29th Provincial Skills Canada Competition (PSCC), hosted virtually, April 14—23, 2021. Gold medal winners at the PSCC will become part of Team Alberta and will compete at the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC), which will
also be hosted virtually.
The following contest areas require qualification through a Regional Skills Canada Competition to compete Provincially:
Automobile Technology, Baking, Cabinet Making, Carpentry, Culinary Arts, Hairstyling Junior, Hairstyling Intermediate,
Video Production and Welding.
