Skills Canada Alberta is committed to inspiring students, developing their talents, and elevating the skill level of trades and technologies in Alberta.

In recognition of Alberta’s talented youth, Skills Canada Alberta is the link to several scholarships that are tied to outstanding competitor performance at the Provincial Skills Canada Competition. Application is not required for these scholarships. Students who qualify for these scholarships will automatically be contacted.

WorldSkills Provincial Champion Scholarship

Skills Canada Alberta offers scholarships of $1200 to three outstanding competitors at the Provincial Skills Canada Competition. This scholarship is rewarded to the two highest ranking grade 12 medalists and the top ranking post-secondary competitor in each contest area to continue their pursuit of excellence at a post-secondary level.

WorldSkills Team Canada Alberta Award

Skills Canada Alberta offers additional scholarships and funding to Alberta Team Canada Prospects for training for the WorldSkills competitions. Skills Canada Alberta selects the recipients of this award on a bi-annual basis based on competitors becoming a Team Canada Prospect at the Skills Canada National Competition.

The Dorothy O’Neill – Skills Canada Alberta Entrance Award

NAIT offers this award to the top-ranking secondary and post-secondary competitors at the Provincial Skills Canada Competition located in Edmonton and the surrounding region. This incredible opportunity is offered to competitors based on their entrance into a program at NAIT that is directly related to your contest area.

Gene Haas Scholarship

The Gene Haas Foundation awards this scholarship to the top-ranking secondary and post-secondary competitors at the Provincial Skills Canada Competition in the CNC Machining and Precision Machining competitions. The funds from this scholarship will support their future machinist-based training to continue to learn and develop in their chosen field.
